While perusing the contents of a donation based surplus store, I came across a barrel of Kodachrome slides. Known for its rich color that gradually fades over time, I first noticed the negative of American Dream (No. 1). Feeling viscerally seduced by the image’s archetypical depiction of heterosexual love of a previous generation, I was beckoned to continue looking. I next uncovered American Dream (No. 6), which made me realize that there were likely more related slides in the barrel. I spent the next six days going through thousands of slides until I found every image related to the unknown couple.
